ABOUT ME

Who am I?

My name is Siúan (she/her) and I am an Irish psychotherapeutic counsellor operating a private practice in North East London. My professional background is in supporting survivors of trauma and abuse through my work in the women’s sector. I have an MA in Gender Studies, and am in my final years of training for an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

What is my approach?

I believe therapy should be a collaborative space where we can work together to identify what will most support you to live life as your fullest and most authentic self. My training is in Gestalt Psychotherapy, so this will inform my approach.

I will work creatively with you to build a space of relational safety where an open and non-judgemental dialogue can take place between us. My aim is to understand your unique experience of the world and increase your own awareness of this too. I believe that you are the expert in your own experience and my job is to help you get to know yourself more deeply, so that you can feel empowered to manage the challenges and relationships in your life more effectively.

My approach is trauma-informed and holistic, which means I place equal value on mind and body in the therapy room. I feel it is important to consider lived experience and the environmental and social context of our lives, in addition to interpersonal relationships. I hope this enables me to practice therapy inclusively and create a welcoming and supportive setting for us to work together.

What is Imbolc?

In the Celtic tradition, the festival of Imbolc marks the beginning of spring, a time of rebirth and awakening. Imbolc recognises the first signs of new life are beginning to stir beneath the earth, even though on the surface the days still appear short and dark and there might be snow on the ground. Imbolc is connected to the Goddess Brigid, who is associated with healing, fertility, agriculture, and the creative arts.

I believe the symbolism of Imbolc holds many similarities with the beginnings of the therapeutic journey: a time of transition and possibility; of light and new life emerging from darkness; and an opportunity for creativity and transformation.
